Waste Management

1.0 OBJECTIVE

The objective of this SOP is to provide written guidelines for disposal of waste material  generated during manufacturing and packaging.

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure is applicable waste disposal at Company Name 

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1  Heads- all departments  

4.0 PROCEDURE 

4.1 Labels / Cartons / Leaflet/ Corrugated boxes. 

4.1.1 Collect all online rejected / left over labels / cartons / leaflet / corrugated boxes after completion of  packaging activity of the respective batch.

4.1.2 Count and record the quantity in respective Batch Manufacturing Record and counter checked and signed by QA.

4.1.3 Tear off the rejected labels / cartons / leaflet.

4.1.4 Tear off the corrugated boxes.

4.1.5 Pack in clean polythene bag and affix signed ‘UNDER PROCESS’ LABEL indicating as scrap for disposal.

4.1.6 Send these polythene bags to scrap yard for shredding.

4.2  Polythene bags

4.2.1 Collect all used polythene bags and ensure  that they are empty.

4.2.2 Deface or delabel if they are labelled / printed with marker.

4.2.3 Pack all polythene bags in clean polythene bag and affix signed ‘UNDER PROCESS’ label indicating as scrap for disposal.

4.2.4 Send them to scrap yard for shredding. 

4.3 Containers 

4.3.1   Collect all online rejected / left over containers after completion of packaging activity of a  respective batch.

4.3.2  Count and record the quantity in respective Batch Manufacturing Record counter checked and signed by QA.

4.3.3  Deshape the individual container with hammer.

4.3.4  Pack these containers in clean polythene bag and affix signed ‘UNDER PROCESS’ label indicating as scrap for disposal.

4.3.5  Send these. polythene bags to scrap yard for shredding

4.4 Flip-offs 

4.4.1 Collect all online rejected / left over flip off's after completion of packaging activity of a  respective batch.

4.4.2 Count and record the quantity in respective Batch Manufacturing Record counter checked and signed by QA.

4.4.3 Deshape the individual container with hammer.

4.4.4 Pack these containers in clean polythene bag and affix signed ‘UNDER PROCESS’ label indicating as scrap for disposal.

4.4.5 Send these. polythene bags to scrap yard for shredding 

4.5 Empty strips/Blisters generated during machine setting and operation

4.5.1 Procedure for collection and transfer of scrap from primary packing cubicle to secondary packing area :

4.5.2 Collect the strips/Blisters from waste bin in polythene bag.

4.5.3 Check the strips/Blisters for absence of product in primary packing cubicle.

4.5.4 These polythene bags are then transferred to the secondary packing area through pass box.

4.5.5 Each polythene bag is checked by IPQA ,affix ‘UNDER PROCESS’ label indicating as  scrap for disposal and then tied.

4.5.6 Checked and labelled scrap polythene bags are transferred designated area by packing person.

4.5.7 Housekeeping person collects these scrap polythene bags and checks the label on each polythene bag. 

4.6 Return or rejected goods

4.6.1 Remove the secondary packing materials as described above and remove the primary packing materials from the tablets or powders or liquids and collected the waste separately as solids and liquids.

4.6.2 Dispose the waste as per step no: 4.7 

4.7 Disposal of waste

4.7.1 Liquids and solid wastes shall be disposed by sending the same to M/S COMAPNY NAME or Send to ETP
