Sampling of Nitrogen

1.0 OBJECTIVE      

1.1 To describe the procedure for sampling of Nitrogen.  

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This SOP is applicable for sampling of Plant Nitrogen used in XXX company.  

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

5.0 PROCEDURE 

5.1 The Nitrogen gas shall be sampled from the following sampling points by Quality assurance chemist           

·Batch Preparation

·Disinfectant Preparation.

·Component Preparation.  

5.2 The Nitrogen gas shall be sampled into a rubber bulb consisting of two rubber tubes, of which inlet is longer and outlet is shorter, connected on either side to the bulb. These two tubes are closed with the help of two pinchcorks.  

5.3 Open the pinchcorks of the inlet and outlet tubes and connect the inlet of the rubber bulb to the sampling port.  

5.4 Open the valve of the sampling port and flush the bulb with the Nitrogen for 5 minutes to remove air.  

5.5 Close the out let of the bulb with the help of pinchcock and allow the bulb to expand to sufficient volume and pressure. 

5.6 Fold the inlet tube and gently pull it from the sampling port. Close the inlet tightly with the help of pinchcock or rubber tube.  

5.7 Affix the label to the sample and mention the sampling location, date of sampling and sampled by and shall be sent to QC for analysis.  

5.8 Frequency: Daily. 

Precautions:                     

Check the bulbs before sampling for wear and tear if any and discard.§  Use the fresh bulbs if any damage is there.
