Medical Examination SOP

 1.0 OBJECTIVE

To establish a procedure to conduct the medical examination for all the employees and personnel. 

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure is applicable to all the employees working at XXX, Company. 

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1  Head: Administration

3.2  Heads- all departments   

4.0 PROCEDURE  



4.1 Administration department and concerned Department Heads to ensure that all the employees shall undergo the Medical check-up periodically as per the Standard Operating Procedure. 

4.2 Pre employment medical fitness certificate shall be submitted to Administration department for persons who are newly recruited. The medical examination report shall be sent to the employee along with the offer letter, which will be used for completing the pre employment check. The examination includes Physical examination, Eye check up, urine and specific investigations like Skin sensitivity for penicillin’s, Blood, chest X – ray and Tuberculosis.  

4.3 No persons shall be put to work without pre employment medical check-up. 

4.4 All the employees in the company shall be healthy and free from any contagious and communicable disease. 

4.5 All the Employees / Personnel shall undergo following tests but not limited to:

· Physical Examination

· Eye

· Urine

· Skin

· Blood

· Chest X- Ray

· Tuberculosis

· Penicillin sensitivity test (for betalactam sections)

· Contagious and communicable disease.

4.6  Medical officer shall record the details of diagnosis and details of examination as per Annexure I.

4.7  On observing the reports, special attention shall be paid to persons with any communicable and contagious diseases such as enteric disorders, respiratory diseases, skin infection etc.

4.8 Illness Reporting system

4.8.1 Personnel showing at any time apparent illness or open lesions which may adversely affect the quality of products shall not be allowed to work, until he gets a medical certificate for fitness.

4.8.2 Personnel showing at any time apparent illness or open lesions shall intimate to concerned head and head may write the details of the Illness in employee illness register (Annexure II) to the immediate supervisor/ Department Head.

4.8.3 Departmental Head shall instruct the employee not to enter the manufacturing area and instructions shall be given to meet the medical officer and take treatment.

4.8.4 The employee has to submit the medical report before joining the job after the illness. 

4.9 Frequency of Medical Examination

4.9.1 All the employees shall undergo medical check up once in a year.

4.9.2 Visual inspection operators shall undergo eye check up once in a year.
